This drawing is a part of watercolour series created during 2019/2020.

The eyes let us see within. The series draws inspiration from human anatomy, physical body, spiritual attachment, (dis)connection, psychology, emotional intelligence, interaction, action and reaction, care and protection, positive and negative emotions.

Artist Bio

Irma Calabrese is a Lithuanian-born, Sydney-based set / production designer, artist and illustrator whose artworks are intricate, intriguing, minimalistic and often sensual.
She studied many forms of art making through tertiary studies in Set Design, Jewellery and Interior Design and became most drawn to ink as the main medium for her work still whilst studying at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts in Lithuania. She also developed a strong interest in photography once moved to Australia in 2004.
Inspired by travel, nature, primitive cultures, symbols, shadow puppetry, geometric and organic shapes, human psychology and interaction, her latest work is monochromatic single continuous line ink drawings. The themes of displacement, isolation, attachment, intimacy and afterlife are often present. Her work is held in private collections in Australia, Europe and the United States.
