Banksias

I love creating art by using banksias as the inspiration. They are so beautiful at any point of their existence. Soft and pale yellow/ green to start and then more woody and deeper in colour.
This is my way of portraying them in this painting.

Banksias are a fascinating and diverse group of plants belonging to the Proteaceae family. Native to Australia, Banksias grow as trees or woody shrubs, boasting spectacular flower spikes and unique foliage.

The colours used are: purple, orange, white, gold, yellow, ochre, grey.

Banksias play a crucial role in Australia’s ecosystems, providing food and shelter for a myriad of native wildlife. With over 170 species, Banksias come in all shapes and sizes. They are a popular choice in horticulture and landscaping due to their resilience and vibrant appearance.

If you like my art have fun with me. I enjoy all subject matter, however, the subject itself can determine the medium I choose to work with, it may require the fluidity and beauty of diluted acrylic or the direct impact of thick acrylic/oil paints to convey my personal vision. My approach may be fast and spontaneous or could take many hours, days to complete my goal. I enjoy the challenge of impressionistic work as well as an intuitive, contemporary approach to a subject which can allow true creativity to shine.
