The 42nd hexagram of the Book of Change denotes Increase, a fundamental idea of the Book of Change: that is to rule honestly is to serve. The sacrifice of the part of those above for the increase of those below fills people with joy and gratitude. I have used the image of Marcus Aurelius, the philosopher king, for this hexagram.
