Cool Shade on Warm Skin explores my memory and experience of the Australian Landscape. The work starts as a photograph and is then transformed into a depiction of my memory of the landscape through a transformative process in the darkroom. The negative is enlarged across 4 pieces deconstructing the landscape into sections. These sections are then individually hand coloured with oil paint before being reconstructed. This process imitates how memories are formed, things are experienced, then dissected through thought, before being put back together in their new form as a memory.
