Rhododendrons are one of my favourite flowers to paint. I love the transparency of the petals that fold and overlap in so many ways, creating a myriad of colours and tonal nuances. I captured the reference for this at the Brindabella Gardens in Toowoomba when I was dashing around with my camera between showers of rain. This painting won 1st prize for still-life's at the D'arcy Doyle Art Awards 2017.
