Artwork Description

I was inspired to create this artwork depicting the billabong, flora and fauna on my daughter's bushland property. Australia's devastating bushfire season of 2019 and 2020 caused an unspeakable loss of lives, and fauna and flora. "Awakening" is reminding us to protect the treasures we have for our future generations. A limited edition of prints is available.

Artist Bio

Jeanette Giroud taught Art Education in Western Australia for more than 25 years.
During her time as a lecturer of Art History, her favourite topics were Poetry Propaganda, and Politics as well as Social Realism and Impressionism.
Van Gogh, Constable, and Turner have been the main inspiration for much of Jeanette's landscape paintings, whilst the poignant works of German Artist, Kaethe Kollwitz have inspired her major in Printmaking.
Jeanette's Master's in Art Education focussed on a thesis exploring Secondary Arts Teachers' Perceptions of Art Integration across the Curriculum.
