Silently Comes the Spring

"Silently Comes the Spring" is my response to the pandemic ridden year of 2020.

This year Spring crept in with barely a whisper. Spring usually heralds new beginnings and hope. However, in a year of global change, terrible bushfires, a pandemic and unspeakable loss of life, we have barely noticed its arrival. This work has been created to remind us that after the storm comes renewal and hope.

Jeanette Giroud taught Art Education in Western Australia for more than 25 years.
During her time as a lecturer of Art History, her favourite topics were Poetry Propaganda, and Politics as well as Social Realism and Impressionism.
Van Gogh, Constable, and Turner have been the main inspiration for much of Jeanette's landscape paintings, whilst the poignant works of German Artist, Kaethe Kollwitz have inspired her major in Printmaking.
Jeanette's Master's in Art Education focussed on a thesis exploring Secondary Arts Teachers' Perceptions of Art Integration across the Curriculum.
After retirement from Education practice, she now works in a variety of visual art disciplines including, drawing, painting, printmaking, and textiles. Jeanette has been a past finalist in the Mandorla Art Prize, a semi-finalist in the Black Swan Portrait Prize, and other highly commended awards. Her work is held in both public and private collections.
