βSomethings Comingβ was a very happy accident. As always, I build up layers upon layers of colour and texture. This time however, after one particularly colourful layer, I stopped. There was something there that I loved and didnβt want to cover it up. So, instead of subduing the colour, I embraced it!
This is such a statement piece. Itβs even bolder and brighter in person. Thereβs still my signature texture and ink layers, still the luscious drips I love to include. This piece just happens to be a bit more colourful! Please note that there was no βwhiteβ used in this painting. Thereβs various shades of off white and stone. It may appear white depending on what type of device you are viewing with.
I changed another thing while completing this piece. I didnβt listen to music. It was odd for me but I was able to listen to my own head and wasnβt influenced by the βvibeβ created from music. Instead, I ended up with a little tune from West Side Story stuck on loop. βSomethings coming, I donβt know, what it is, but it is, going to be greatβ itβs exactly how I felt while creating this piece. I didnβt know where it was going or what it would be. I just knew I was having fun and enjoying every minute of this ride. Fun fact: I played Maria in West Side Story when I was in grade 12. Very small town and didnβt have much competition for the role. π
This piece will be finished with a gloss varnish to truly make the colours come alive. The edges are painted black so absolutely no need to frame. There is a very faint signature on the front and it has also been signed on the back for authentication purposes. If you need any assistance or have questions, please reach out as Iβm always happy to help.
