Artwork Description

Western Australia is well known for its tall timbers and karri forests. These can be found all over the State from Kalamunda and Mundaring in the hills and south to Pemberton, Dwellingup and Walpole. The tall timbers in the Boranup Forest and around Margaret River attract many tourists to our beautiful state and is a popular place for walkers along the Bibbulmun Track. This particular painting was inspired by six years of art retreats painting at Banksia Springs in Dwellingup. The track leads to a winery. Just imagine yourself going for a leisurely walk along this dirt track on a sunny crisp morning, breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the feeling of being as one with nature or walking down the track in the afternoon for a drink at the winery. Australian native plants and trees thrive in this environment and spill onto the pathway, the smaller ferns and ground covers peeping out from behind the tall trees. This original painting on stretched canvas is framed and comes with a cord ready for hanging.

Artist Bio

I am an award-winning artist living in Perth, WA and the past President of North Coast Art Club, Inc. based in Carramar.
Colour is deeply personal and can change how you feel within a space. Whether it is the art you bring into your home, or the walls and furniture you pair it with, how and where you add colour can be a daunting decision. I hope my art can assist you in this decision.

I have always loved painting and began painting professionally after retiring from university teaching fifteen years ago. My formal art education consists of four years of art study at high school in Sydney followed by a semester at East Sydney Technical College. Although my preferred medium is acrylic I also experiment with mixed media and a variety of styles and subjects. I love to play with bright colours and, in particular, those that are complementary, enjoying the brightness achieved by their juxtaposition. My favourite subjects to paint are seascapes, birds, animals, abstracts and children but I am willing to paint other subjects when commissioned. I love to take on challenges and extend my skills with a variety of subjects, often working on up to four paintings at a time as my mood takes me. I have a large studio attached to my home and there is always a painting in progress on one of my easels.

A narrative artist, I am inspired that my paintings should tell a story and particularly one that is meaningful to the collector of my art. I am also a romantic at heart and this is particularly evident in my paintings of loving couples and pelicans. My beach and seascapes, and depictions of children at play are well recognised and have proven to be some of my most successful paintings to date, with paintings also selling internationally and interstate. Many of my paintings have been the result of people liking my work and commissioning similar paintings. My artwork has enjoyed generous exposure in numerous exhibitions and my most recent achievement was earning first place for my painting of an underwater reef. A keen snorkeller and underwater photographer, I have many photos of coral reefs and sea life which provide inspiration.
