This is the house that belonged to Edith Dircksey Cowan, the first woman member of parliament in Australia. The house was built in 1890 in West Perth and is one of Western Australia's important historical houses. One hundred years later it was purchased by Edith Cowan University, and with the help of students at the local TAFE, reconstructed by the lake on ECU's Joondalup campus where it now stands. It's a building that I am very familiar with having been a lecturer at Edith Cowan University for over 30 years and I often picnicked by the lake during my lunch hours and before watching a movie at the Pines movie theatre directly behind the building. This is one of two paintings of Edith Cowan House. The other features the house in Autumn colours.

A beautiful misty landscape with golden Autumn leaves falling to the ground. A carpet of yellow and red leaves adorns the pathway. The main colours are blue and gold and the painting invokes a mystical feeling of peace. It would provide a calming, nostalgic feeling in any room. Bunches of red gold autumn leaves adorn the branches of the trees and gracefully fall to the ground to create a golden carpet on the forest floor. A streak of sunlight shines through the branches and plays with the light shining on the leaves on the ground. The background is pale blue with a misty sunlight shining through the trees. This weatherboard cottage sits beside the lake at ECU's Joondalup campus. The building and trees are imagined in autumn tones and the waters of the lake reflect the beautiful yellow, orange and blue colours of autumn.A peaceful blue stream wends its way through the stately tall karri trees in a southwest forest. The background sky peeps through the green undergrowth while the stately trees stand in solidarity along the water's edge. Bracken, ferns and ground covers frame the blueness of the water providing peaceful reflections in the slow moving stream. It is a peaceful scene to encounter.

The primary colours are turquoise, blue, yellow and brown and the ripples in the sand and water are light yellow and pale blue. Two pink and grey galahs sitting on a branch in a loving and romantic embrace. One galah appears to be grooming its mate. The background is various shades of green representing the leaves in the trees behind them and blue sky filters through the leaves. A family of three Willy Wagtails sitting together on pink and white flowers on a pale green background. The image is stretched around to cover the sides of the canvas. The birds are black and white and they are sitting on pink and white flowering branches.
