Artwork Description

The origin of this one is a mystery to me. I think it began with colour. I’m often compelled to simply paint certain colours with no thought to subject. (Blues tend to be favourites). I expect my subconscious made the obvious leap between the colour blue and sadness, though ironically blue makes me feel happy. Nevertheless I can certainly relate. Instinctively I feel it may represent a mother’s loss of her child.

This painting is on canvas, which my wonderful hubby glued to board. It can be paced into a ready-made frame, or framed professionally.

Artist Bio

I’ve painted since I was old enough to hold a brush.. Born with a significant visual impairment, I was encouraged to draw and paint in the hope it would aid visual development. I’m not sure it did much for my eyesight, but it certainly did plenty for my spirit

Art, for me, is all about communication. Everything I paint is communicating something , whether it be a simple emotion, or a more complex thought. My artistic style encompasses: abstract, expressionism, Impressionism and surrealism. If I were to categorise myself, I would say I’m an Outsider artist. Outsider art has been described as ‘any work of art produced by an untrained idiosyncratic artist who is typically unconnected to the conventional art world.’

In addition to painting I have a number of other creative outlets. I’m a trained florist and published children’s author. I crochet and design clothing, work with clay and make jewellery.
