Artwork Description

A few years ago I painted a version of this over an unwanted painting. It was straight from imagination with zero expectation. What resulted was a painting I liked very much. Unfortunately when I applied varnish to the original, intending to sell it, raised lines from the under painting came through in sharp relief. Coming across the painting while clearing out my art room recently, I was again struck by how much I liked the scene and so decided to paint it again. This one has the addition of a lighthouse and a boat.

Artist Bio

I’ve painted since I was old enough to hold a brush.. Born with a significant visual impairment, I was encouraged to draw and paint in the hope it would aid visual development. I’m not sure it did much for my eyesight, but it certainly did plenty for my spirit

Art, for me, is all about communication. Everything I paint is communicating something , whether it be a simple emotion, or a more complex thought. My artistic style encompasses: abstract, expressionism, Impressionism and surrealism. If I were to categorise myself, I would say I’m an Outsider artist. Outsider art has been described as ‘any work of art produced by an untrained idiosyncratic artist who is typically unconnected to the conventional art world.’

In addition to painting I have a number of other creative outlets. I’m a trained florist and published children’s author. I crochet and design clothing, work with clay and make jewellery.
