Artwork Description

Boats are a reoccurring theme for me. This may be a hangover from my childhood when, for a short time, my father would take us out in his boat. He didn’t own it for long. I have no idea why he gave it up.

Please note: due to the odd shape of this painting, measurements have been taken at the widest points.

Artist Bio

I’ve painted since I was old enough to hold a brush.. Born with a significant visual impairment, I was encouraged to draw and paint in the hope it would aid visual development. I’m not sure it did much for my eyesight, but it certainly did plenty for my spirit

Art, for me, is all about communication. Everything I paint is communicating something , whether it be a simple emotion, or a more complex thought. My artistic style encompasses: abstract, expressionism, Impressionism and surrealism. If I were to categorise myself, I would say I’m an Outsider artist. Outsider art has been described as ‘any work of art produced by an untrained idiosyncratic artist who is typically unconnected to the conventional art world.’

In addition to painting I have a number of other creative outlets. I’m a trained florist and published children’s author. I crochet and design clothing, work with clay and make jewellery.
