In this work I aimed to evoke the dark, frenetic and fevered madness of Ancient Roman Emperors such as Caligula, Nero, Commodus and Elagabalus.
The impasto treatment of oil paint for the portrait were established using the palette knife, creating marble-like textures. The green ornament were created using a range of brushes.
