Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
This abstract expressionist portrait, although not based on any bust of an Ancient Roman in particular, bears a vague formal likeness to such representations. The majority of the portrait has been created using the palette knife with the brush used only for the outline of an eye (the far purple section) and the diagonal yellow band.
The white section has been left as the bare canvas so as to establish a stark contrast with the impasto use of paint and the rich colours.
Ready to hang with strong wire/d-rings on the back.
