This is a portrait of the Roman Emperor Commodus, based on a bust of him in a cuirass.
This work reflects my passion for Ancient Rome and, especially, Roman armour.
My aim was to present a modern, intricate and patterned-take on portraiture, re-making reality/portraiture like the artist Francis Bacon.
This work represents many hours establishing the range of fine details, cross-hatching and marks.
This work will be sent express post in a sturdy postal tube.
This drawing would work great in either a floating-frame or a simple black frame.
My signature is at the bottom-left corner, just above the dark patch in the bottom-left corner.
