Essence of Australia by Jess King - Walking through the Australian bush is always full of colour and plant life. My rich intense colour palette really captures the essence of Australia in all seasons. If you are hiking, walking or heading to the beach there will always be magnificent nature around to captivate you. This nature painting has a Kookaburra and Rosella resting in the trees. My idea is to gather the essence of Australia together in one space for you to be drawn to constantly.

Acrylic on Canvas is stretched over 31mm chamfered finger-jointed hoop pine. Canvas float frames are made with ethically sourced Australian oak. Ready to hang with hooks and wire.

Over the last few years I have found myself completely immersed in a world of creativity. Having lived in Africa and Australia I am influenced by fauna, flora and the beautiful landscapes and surrounds. I have always loved nature, every aspect of it. I find it energising as an artist to explore and study what I paint and to get to know the subject in as much detail as possible. It’s natural for me to paint what I am naturally drawn to.

My work is about the realisation that we all belong together. We are all connected and one can not do with out the other, a world in bright harmonious balance.

Using a rich, energetic colour pallet I love to experiment with acrylics, ink, charcoal, pencil and mixed media, using varying techniques and multiple layers within my paintings.

Strongly inspired by the beauty of nature, my paintings are a response expressed in colour, depth and movement which come from my exceptionally beautiful surrounds, both in its simplicity and complexity, this resonates in my versatile painting techniques.
