Apricity. Basking in the warmth of the sun in winter.
My works reflect places in nature, with an accentuation on colour and movement. The process begins when I am on location, immersing into my surroundings, taking photos but also mentally storing what the senses are experiencing. Rather than painting directly from an image for this piece as I usually do, I looked at a few images briefly of seascapes, put them away and decided to work quickly, with only the flashes of colours and shapes remaining from the images in my mind.
Using the notion of creating an abstract piece to release some building tension and feel accomplished by working fast, in a free manner, without putting pressure on myself and without overthinking.
