I have been fascinated by the walking track near my home ever since bushfires tore through it in 2019.
Observing the landscape of charcoal trees and ash covered ground being revived over the weeks, months and years. The first vibrant green leaves unfurling to the now abundance of plants and wildflowers that I had not recalled seeing prior. ‘Intertwined’ depicts a day in November when I completely stopped in my tracks, mesmerised by nature’s newest work of art. A mass vine tangled across the bush floor and climbing the trees.
It was like a blanket of fine lace and small beads or an intricate web of a busy spider. I considered each strand intertwining to be the stories of this bush track being sewn together and becoming part of the next. Two weeks passed and this scene was no more, but a new one was in its place, as will another tomorrow.
