Casssowaries are flightless birds which live in tropical North Queensland. They navigate their way on long, strong legs through the undergrowth and feed on seeds and fruit. The young ones have black stripes on their buff coloured rump. This painting is an example of the brightly coloured flowers and foliage so distinct to those rain forests.
