Disappointment turned to elation with this subject. After arriving in the dark on a rainy day to set up camp in Karijini National park I was filled with anticipation for what the following day would bring. I imagined lush greenery surrounding our little camper trailer. It was a national park right? Waking up to the smell of scorched bush and dead trees and finding out a fire had ripped through just weeks beforehand had me almost in tears. But then, I looked, and looked a bit more and realized this discovery had a beauty of it's own. The charred tree trunks against the red dirt, the endless shades of green in the distance flanked by purple blue mountains with a clear blue sky overhead took my breath away. This, I had to paint!
