I love the Melaleuca trees in Yallingup, in fact anywhere along the southwest of WA. Their gnarly, tough appearance is indicative of the raw nature of this coastline. Yet they provide a welcoming relief from the intense WA sun. Their shady shapes and the silhouette of their shrubby outline against a glistening Indian ocean was a subject I just had to paint.
