I have been drawing since I could put crayon to a wall.
Born in Central Victoria and living in Beechworth, Joanne Hill has had limitless inspiration with her favourite subject matter, the Australian landscape.
Joanne's current practice combines her fundamental training in Fine Art and an Associate Diploma in Fine Art (Graphic Design). Joanne's feels her design background influences how she presents her selected subject matter and colour utilization.
Joanne is currently enjoying utilizing a brush and sometimes airbrush with quality acrylics and mediums to her creative work. Favouring mostly dark or strong coloured gesso bases to express her work on to encourage bold colour paly.
Her work often has a combination of both bold brushwork and intentionally placed layers that are balancing with subtly detailed strokes. Placed in an impressionistic style so they allow the changing light to play and effect on how the image is seen.
This result in works that have a bold dynamic presence. Most of Joannes work is on the amazing changing environment from the outback, to central farmlands and occasional seascapes. Attempting to capture the rawness and power of this amazingly vivid environment and the creatures. Joanne currently continues to explore and master her materials by using the natural environment as stimuli and a marker. Continually pushing to improve each time and giving every piece its own unique atmosphere through colour selection, layout design or brush stroke utilization.
Constantly finding inspiration from her travels, Joanne photographically captures imagery, Then processes to create the images starts by striping, cropping, and small adaption occur until the image arrives at a visually interesting presentation. Within her various bodies of work, Joanne wants to encourage the viewer to connect, explore and reflect on their own relationship with the landscape evoking certain memories and emotions
