My eldest son stared at this one for a while when it was done and then said, ‘It’s funny how the old dead flower is kind of the star of the show in this one.’ He went on to explain that although the vase if fabulous with its colourful flowers, and the rose soft and fresh just out of bud, his eye was drawn to the shape and form of that starry remnant of a flower. I guess it just goes to show that even as we age we can be the brightest thing in someone’s eye.
