Original Artwork's Description

With this artwork I hope to give the viewer a feel of the Forests in the South West of Western Australia. I wanted to bring out the striking colours, the contrasts and the textures. I live near Grimwade Forest, and visited with my overseas visitors this summer (spot them walking through the bush). The light was perfect to highlight the gum and pine trees. I have interpreted that with vibrant colour and bold, loose brush strokes.
The painting is done with acrylic paints on canvas and the fast drying time suits me, it pushes me to work at capturing the general sense and feeling of the landscape and leave out unnecessary detail.
