In my student years I had to compose still life's in the 'manner' of Jean Baptist Chardin, a 18th century French Still life artist. Having admired his work in the Dutch Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam changed my mind about thinking that only the Dutch Still life Artists were the best. This composition is very much in the style of this artist, without any apology. It's beauty lies in its simplicity.

Kivits’ classic oeuvre includes not only original Still-life’s, but also Fruit and Floral compositions, Landscapes, Seascapes and Figurative works in glazes of oil-paint.
