I have always been fascinated by paintings within a painting, and I always wanted to do one I thought would show a greater "Fool the eye" technique. This painting is a study for such a style, and can be seen in some of my major works where a painting is displayed in a still life with a painting. Old Tudor Style Farmhouse

A portrait of an room or office with the books, paper, watch and Delft lidded Tobacco pot, and old long pipe. An allegory of study and contemplation.

Just a few objects found in the house of a deceased uncle who was reading the paper while having his last smoke from the Ming tobacco pot (which lid is invisible behind the box. The box with some small personal trinkets, a small checkered pill box, and an empty red glass flower vase, as he was a widower and did not like to see dying flowers in his house anymore.
