Artwork Description

A still life inspired by Antonio da Correggio's 'Jupiter and Io' 1532-33 painting, which depicts a scene inspired by Ovid's Metamorphoses. I composed this painting using abstract elements from Corregio's painting by using still life objects in my home which had similiar colours and/or shapes in his work.
Painted from life using both acrylic markers and oil pastels, which help give textural variety and interest to the work.

2023, Acrylic Markers and Oil Pastels on Wood
30cm x 40cm

Artist Bio

Josseline Jeria is a Contemporary Australian born painter, currently based in Sydney.
Focusing on the Fine arts, I work predominately in realist traditions based in impressionistic and expressionistic styles. I explore incorporating abstract qualities in my work, to create different pictorial spaces and to emphasize focal points. My choice of style for a given painting is made based on the composition and the mood I wish for the audience to experience when viewing my work.
I enjoy exploring the full spectrum of colour palettes, from monochromatic to highly saturated, and from minimal to complex interpretations of objects, landscapes and people.
The majority of my paintings are painted from life.
