Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed certificate of authenticity.

I discovered this Quandong tree while we were on a family picnic at Baroon Pocket Dam, on the North Maleny side of the dam. Everyone played football but I sketched. I was captivated by the tree, the striking contrasts of the sunlight and shadows, and the bark against the background foliage. It was all about the tree! How it was commanding attention and strength.

The sketch at the park recorded my impression. My photo resources provided accuracy for the tree structure but included playground, distracting shrubs and bins, and lacked the drama. The artwork was created in my studio from my resources.
