Artwork Description

This rich, textured palette knife oil painting features a lush bouquet of creamy white, yellow, and soft pink roses resting atop a stack of large art books. Executed in a dramatic impasto style, heavy layers of oil paint form physical ridges and petal contours, bringing dynamic tactile motion to the blooming florals. Dark olive stems crisscross inside a clear, cylindrical glass vase, which sits anchored on a stack of three books featuring visible titles on their spines, including "PEONIES" and "VINTAGE ROSES."

The soft blush-pink background is applied with wide, sweeping knife strokes, echoing the romantic atmosphere of the arrangement. Below, a light wooden table surface grounds the scene, complete with the artist's signature emblazoned in crisp white in the bottom left corner. Framed in a natural, light oak wood floating frame, the artwork combines soft floral romance with bold, modern texture.

Artist Bio

I was born in Adelaide in 1971. My childhood consisted of bohemian treks around Australia with my artistic parents and older brother; “The stark light and vivid colours of nature were my initial inspirations.” You could say I inherited my parent’s talent for fine art. Even after growing up painting in my mothers studio, I never saw painting as a real job and yet here I am making a living from my art for the last 20+ years. The secret is that it's never been a job but more a full time passion. I left for Europe at 19 and attended the “Ecole Superieur D'Art Plastique et Visuel” in Mons, Belgium. The life experience and knowledge I learnt in the 4 years I attended were literally the best 4 years of my life. I picked up my first brush at age nine and began my career as a professional artist at just 20 years of age. I have always drawn inspiration from still life and I like to challenge myself as an artist to paint Abstracts, Nudes, Cityscapes, Landscapes and Animals. After 13 years at Sanctuary Cove and 5 years at Marina Mirage at Main Beach my studio gallery is now located at the Paradise Centre Surfers Paradise, on the beautiful Gold Coast. I regularly exhibit with selected galleries around Australia. "For me, still life is everywhere we look. It is the clock face of time and culture. From the fresques at Pompeii, to Bruegel's interiors or Gauguin's fruit. .... we understand it and recognize it. I take objects that are often overlooked, but we see everyday and bring them to life for all of us to admire. My inspiration is to capture the quiet, simple, timeless objects of our daily life.....""I try to impart a sense of harmony and balance through my work. My aim is to paint pictures that people can live with and look at with increasing pleasure - to capture a feeling or a moment in time which then becomes timeless... the colours and textures of fruit, the reflection on glass, table tops catching the morning or afternoon light, cherries falling off the tablecloths. "I move forward in an unseen order, a rhythm and a surprise.
