Artwork Description

I am a great lover of bushwalking, particularly through our native Australian bushland. I am passionate about our birdlife and our flora and fauna and I am at my happiest when I'm immersed in it.
This scene is located in the Ikara Flinders Ranges in South Australia on the trek through Wonoka Station to Mayo's Hut, near the township of Hawker.
My sister who is an exceptionally accomplished bushwalker and has walked the famous Heysen Trail several times, donated the map that she no longer needed. What a perfect 'canvas' it is for depicting this scene, particularly as it shows their campsite and the trail pencilled onto the map.
The 1,200 km long 'Heysen Trail' is a popular trail for hikers from all around the world and this scene captures the warm and cosy hikers hit, the beautifully restored Mayo's Hut, which is surely a highly anticipated destination after a long days hiking.
Painted in acrylics, 'Destination - Mayo's Hut' is framed in a black frame and off white matt and is ready to hang on your wall.

Artist Bio

I live in the picturesque Adelaide Hills where I paint and teach from my home studio, ' The Dairy Studio/Gallery '.
I have undergone lessons with Adelaide artists Viv Newcombe and Sylvia Preston.
Although the journey to where I am now has been both rewarding and frustrating, I have slowly built up my skills and confidence to the point where I exhibit and sell my work. I love to paint in watercolours and acrylics and love to experiment with texture and additional materials to create mixed media artworks. My inspiration is drawn from the wonders of creation and total contentment comes whilst being absorbed in the process of creating new works.
I have exhibited my work throughout Adelaide and regional South Australia and held a solo exhibition in 2010 at 'Gallery M' and in 2018 at my home studio. I have also exhibited in the very popular South Australian SALA Festival on many occasions.
I also enjoy being a member of the ' Willunga Arts Collective ' who exhibit in The Glass Studio in rural Willunga SA.
