Inspired by playing with a new technique, this abstract piece was incredibly fun to paint.
Painted on Arches hot pressed paper with a very wet surface, gravel, sand and salt were placed in the wet paint and left to dry naturally.
As a result the beginnings of the bark and leaf litter around the base of the trunk were created.
Finished off with black ink and penwork the tree trunk is 'Firmly Grounded' in the rocky soil and the subtle use of colour enhances the monotone, sketched look of the artwork.
'Firmly Grounded' would be enhanced beautifully with a simple, modern matt and frame.
