Walking through the silk sari bazaars in Banaras as a teenager left a lasting impression on me and a love of shot silk and fabric in general evolved. Working in the fashion industry for many years continued that passion. The magical qualities of shot silk and their changing colours was the inspiration for this artwork. You can never have too many scarves and seeing them hanging together with so many beautiful colours simply makes me happy.
Painted in watercolours, ' The Silk Bazaar ' will add a cheerful and colourful presence to any room.

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
I live in the picturesque Adelaide Hills where I paint and teach from my home studio, ' The Dairy Studio/Gallery '.
I have undergone lessons with Adelaide artists Viv Newcombe and Sylvia Preston.
Although the journey to where I am now has been both rewarding and frustrating, I have slowly built up my skills and confidence to the point where I exhibit and sell my work. I love to paint in watercolours and acrylics and love to experiment with texture and additional materials to create mixed media artworks. My inspiration is drawn from the wonders of creation and total contentment comes whilst being absorbed in the process of creating new works.
I have exhibited my work throughout Adelaide and regional South Australia and held a solo exhibition in 2010 at 'Gallery M' and in 2018 at my home studio. I have also exhibited in the very popular South Australian SALA Festival on many occasions.
I also enjoy being a member of the 'Off the Slate ' Artists collective who exhibit in The Glass Studio in rural Willunga SA.
