Artwork Description

The ocean is an enduring inspiration and this little original tun shell is one in a series of small-scale shell paintings I have completed that treat each one in the sense of a portrait. There are four in total. They look great together but also can stand alone. Definitely a coastal vibe.

Artist Bio

My ambition is always seeking to capture beauty in the everyday. Many paintings share a strong connection to the environment and our place within it.
At the heart of everything is the search for light that transforms the ordinary into something else.
I moved to Warrnambool, on Victoria’s south west, after almost three decades as a newspaper journalist.
In 2020, I completed a Visual Arts Cert IV course at South West TAFE.
I primarily paint with oils in my home studio in a figurative and realism style; influenced by artists whose art features a strong storytelling element such as American, Edward Hopper.
In 2025 I held my first solo exhibition in Warrnambool called The Extraordinary Ordinary, celebrating how every day scenes can be incredibly beautiful, when viewed in a certain light.
I have been a finalist in various well known Australian art prizes, including the Kennedy Prize, John Villiers Outback Art Prize and ANL Maritime Art Award and Exhibition.
