Artist Bio

Julie Hutchings is a Clarence Valley artist.. Wiradjuri living on Bundjalung country who has been exhibiting on a professional level for 25 years.
The human figure is her main source of inspiration & she has been conducting a life drawing group once a week for the past 20 years.
Oil paint is her chosen medium & charcoal for her love of drawing .
Julie has a strong connection to the land & a love of animals that reflect in her art.
Social & political issues influence her work from time to time.
Drawing is a major discipline for Julie & her paintings begin with expressive energetic marks on canvas & paper then she allows the surface to dictate the direction of her work & what stories it will reveal to deliver paintings with expression & emotion.
