This painting is from my 'Dots & Little Things' series around 1997-2004 which looked at various forms of news communication and where I really put media under the microscope.
This artwork explores invisible lines of communication and looks at technological information transfer.
The dot and the stroke refer to information transfer through a technological language system of zeros & ones, a kind of on - off system repeated over and over that computers secretly converse in. As a contrast to the tight rationality of mathematical and technological language, I made the brush marks quite loosely and gestural. An echo to the primitive language of the soul.
The lines create this as continuous rhythmic vibrations that I kind of imagine bounce around invisibly throughout physical space and matter. Like this kind of swarm music that pulsates and is in motion all the time but we can't actually see or hear it.
The combination of multiple lines and dots and layered texture make for a unique visual experience on the wall. The surface is quite textural and energetic. It really draws you in.
This series is as much about seeing and feeling as it is about the infinite visual possibilities contained within minute things. I loved making this artwork and I hope you enjoy it too.
What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and joy as well as giving their walls a splash of colour and interest for years to come.
ALL PAINTINGS ARE VARNISHED with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching.
The painting is on canvas wrapped around traditional wooden stretcher bars with edges that are a smart 2cm deep out from your wall.
The edges are cleaned, staple free and painted a rich black to compliment this painting.
Ready to put on your wall with hanging device on the back.
Painting is signed and titled verso.
