Ready to hang - Black. minimal and lightweight box frame with perspex. Hand cut analogue retro/vintage paper collage
The Red Bitossi Vase is a revisit to a favourite and popular series that celebrates that 50s/60s retro Mid Century colour-pop, floral aesthetic with the fabulousness of Bitossi pottery. Partnered alongside an imagined and inspired bouquet and shock of colour in each vase. Fashioned from detailed and hand cut, thoughtfully selected and sourced vintage papers and images, multi layered, hand cut collage.
In this series I wanted to highlight a joyful riot of colour with pop flowers and fabulous midcentury vases.
Next to galleries and art, gardens and gardening are my favourite places and pastimes...
I was a painting major at University. I am a painter and mixed media artist who loves collage.
Collage especially allows a reworking and pastiche to make a new story or 'paint' a new picture. I use the process and opportunities that collage allows and embrace using and recycling vintage papers and magazines - often vintage French fashion magazines and discarded books from the 1950's and 60's - the ephemeral and the discarded. That which is fleeting/ passing and impermanent and giving new life and form - a new story.
All artwork taken without perspex to minimise reflection - artworks subsequently 'pop' and look even better under the perspex!
