A modernistic landscape, a surreal impression of a tropical landscape.
This work is large and took many months to paint.
A vibrant and bright abstract landscape, with a very tropical theme, and covered in tiny brush strokes across aspects of the landscape creating a visual dance and a surreal impression of the modernistic landscape.
Derived from an experimental process over many years, this work is part of a body of work where the brush strokes have derived in the shape and form from the tiny details of the banksia and Protea flowers, and the shape of the little flowers within, using brush strokes to emulate these.
An abstract landscape evolved from the layer upon layer of Oil paint. There is an element of chaos in the under layers of colour, the contrasting mark making placed in a broken veneer across these layers.
Artist statement : I am an extremely diverse artist; I believe there is much value in diversity. I love working with colour, it evokes an emotional response, and there is a symbolic strength and passion attached to applying colour to a canvas.
I have always been fearless with use of colour which for me creates a dialogue of resilience and tenacity.
This work is not ready for packing or dispatching to a collector for 6 weeks at least.
