Artist Bio

Welcome to my art page !
l live near the small township of Gloucester in NSW, a quiet place with no traffic lights or big name retail spaces. It's located in the foothills of the pristine, world heritage listed Barrington Tops. The natural landscape of this area with its hillscapes and rivers is a constant influence in my art making.
I enjoy creating in diverse styles and embrace the said work on the day, mostly working 'alla prima', all in one go. I approach each work as an exploration of intuitive mark making by using various materials through the processes of drawing, painting and printmaking.
I prefer not to work from a photo reference, rather to work from memory to develop a sense of place, or use direct observation as a starting point to realise a work.
When painting outdoors, 'en plein air', taking inspiration from the landscape around me, I use available light to mix and match colour temperature as I see it.
I have a strong background working with glass as an artistic medium, (painting with glazes, engraving line, etc) with one-off decorative and functional art pieces enjoyed by collectors worldwide. I have however, shifted my art practice entirely to working on 2D surfaces such as paper, recycled cardboard, canvas and timber as a means of exploration of line, form, colour and story.
Thank you for your interest in my work.๐Ÿ™‚
