Cat’s Meow

This painting is the second painting in a series of cats I am planning to create. I painted it for my own amusement, and without any agenda other than to just play and have fun. I used mostly watercolour, and watercolour sticks on smooth paper. I love to invent something , rather than copy nature, and also wanted to play with patterns , shapes and colour. I do get inspiration from other artists. For this cat I was also studying Klimt’s use of shapes and patterns., however my aim is to paint in my own style and always express my own voice. This painting requires framing.

Melbourne artist, Karin Zeller , started out as a portrait artist, but now prefers to create her own colourful , abstract art and designs in watercolour and Acrylics.
She has been a professional artist since 1990, earning a living doing commissions, selling her work in art shows , galleries and exhibitions, as well as teaching art.
Karin has been a member of the Hobsons Bay Arts society since 2007, and has developed her skills by attending many art classes ,workshops and courses, and through painting regularly in her studio. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibition , as well as being represented by the Clayfire gallery in Daylesford for 4 years, where her colourful cats and fish were popular with collectors.
Her art work is in private collections throughout the world, including Australia, Canada, US, UK and Europe. Karin’s designs are also popular on merchandise and products which can be purchased from her Redbubble and Fineartamerica shops. Her artworks have been licensed to Victoria Journals, who reproduced nine of her paintings on beautiful art journals. The best thing to ever happen to her art was when her Abstract Tiger painting was featured on the tail of a Czech fighter jet, and won 2nd prize at the 2013 NATO Tiger meet.
