Artwork Description

Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

This large dreamy color field abstract is drenched in rich periwinkle blues with pops of teal green, yellow-orange, purple, and magenta. Kat Evans' sophisticated sense of color was nurtured by her family of artists (her father was noted WPA artist Emerson Evans who worked on the famous Cost Tower murals in san Francisco with Diego Rivera). Kat studied art and graphic design at university with former students of Josef Albers, color theorist and author of "The Interaction of Color". This vibrant abstract painting is coincidentally Pantone Matching System Color of the Year for 2022 “Very Peri”...a periwinkle blue with violet-red undertones.

All art by Kat Evans

In creating this piece, Evans explored the vibrant interplay of colors to evoke renewal and growth. The vivid streaks over a lush green field represent the unstoppable force of life and energy. This color field painting expresses through abstract forms, a dynamic, uplifting spirit... invigorating its environment with a sense of freshness and vitality.Zen Moment VIII is a vibrant and contemplative work of art. The yellow-orange with layers of soft magenta/lavender produce warm glow that is difficult to capture with photography.
