This work is inspired by the local stands of Angophora Costata in my Sydney neighbourhood, which I have seen growing here for more than 20 years. These trees offer a sense of permanence and dependability and I feel deeply connected with them and the land which they inhabit.
I also reference life experiences in my work. This particular piece was painted to inspire optimism and hope after a difficult personal experience. Decisions that are made and actions taken can have long lasting implications and in effect cast ‘long shadows’ having future flow on effects that cannot always be foreseen. It is my core value to always act with this in mind and therefore with integrity and care. A deeply personal piece.
This piece is framed in a solid Tasmanian oak float frame
