Something to Say

This is a study work. I did not have a set image in my mind when I started this how it would turn out. I wanted to explore colour use, texture, and the intentional use of not painting areas, what can be said leaving something blank. In some areas the acrylic is laid on thick and textured, and in others smoothed out.

Creating her whole life and armed with a degree in Costume Design from Wimbledon School of Art, London, Kate starting to focus on painting more during the great lockdown 2020. Finding herself home alone, painting allowed an expressive and creative outlet that helped fill the void of isolation from the world. She quickly discovered a passion for painting, and specifically figurative and portraiture works, focusing on bright bold colour use and strong brush work. Her works take inspiration from the Pop Art, WPAP & Impressionistic movements, experimenting with conveying identity, character, emotion and thoughts.
