Painted from memories and photographs of my travels through Tokyo, this work captures the overwhelming energy of the city at night — the glow of neon signs, crowded streets, sharp contrasts, and the feeling of being completely surrounded by light and movement.
The portrait sits quietly within the chaos, creating a contrast between stillness and the restless city around him. Built up slowly over more than two years, the painting reflects both the intensity of Tokyo and the long, layered process of revisiting a place through memory, colour, and time.
