The latest in my 'Through the trees' series exploring the balance between controlled colour-blocking and brushwork with free-flowing fluid acrylic painting. I'm excited to let you know that this is the first painting I've created that includes my handmade paint. It's the red ochre colour and it was sourced locally, in fact very close to the Mt Emu Creek which is the subject of the painting. Very proud of this and can't wait to include more locally sourced pigments in my paintings.
While you can view this work as a unique take on representing a traditional landscape view of Mt Emu Creek, Skipton, I invite you to consider the symbolism of viewing the world from the shade and protection of the trees and what it takes to make us move out of the shadows to pursue our dreams in the world.
