Original Artwork's Description

Looking out to sea, through the trees, is restorative and inspiring. 'Where the bush meets the sea 3' is the next in the series I'm developing in response to my interest in fauvism, colour blocking and the tropical seascapes of Paul Gauguin, with an Australian twist of course. I've also harked back to mid century posters with my use of controlled blocks of turquoise, muted greens, buttercup yellow and sky blue. It creates a swathe of colour that is sensory and immaterial. I've juxtaposed this against the willful action of fluid acrylics to evoke the gnarly, deeply textured tree trunks of our hardy seaside flora. The final flourish is the distinctive leaves playing in the breeze, inspired by the bottlebrushes outside my studio door. This work is acrylic on canvas, unframed, but ready to hang with wire attached at the back . The painting is 101.5x75.5cm and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. I carefully package artwork, using recycled materials whenever possible, so it arrives safely, ready for you to enjoy.

Artist Bio

Kate Wise's acrylic paintings are a celebration of the beauty she finds in nature. Kate plays with scale and negative space and creates sumptuous colour palettes to produce harmonious yet lively compositions. If you need more of these things in your life, welcome, you are in the right place!

Kate is an acrylic painter living on Wadawurrung country just outside Ballarat, Victoria. She says 'nature is an inspiring force' and it drives her creation of calm, feminine and flowing paintings that are original, fresh and lively.

You can enjoy Kate's work as vibrant landscapes, abstracts and florals, but in her current series of works, she is inviting you to delve a little deeper, as she explores the psychological terrain of landscape painting. Kate believes that the capacity to observe the complexities of nature, draw meaning and experience self-growth and renewal, are gifts that painting offers both the artist and the viewer.

Kate has been a full-time artist for 5 years, regularly joins group exhibitions, has won several local art prizes and enjoys participating in local community and public art projects. Kate's work is held in private collections across Australia and overseas.
