Someone whose thoughts I value dearly mentioned Joy Hester’s work resonated with mine. I forgot Hester’s name so couldn’t look her work up, but then a lovely neighbour said something similar.
I must have seen her work before. It feels like home. Over the last month or so I have consumed Joy’s work at pace... and happily found out that Heide is in the final throws of a Joy Hester exhibition (usually I find out a week after it’s finished :)). I went this week and it was wonderful. Joy had an incredibly interesting (and far too short) life, with depth that matches her work.
For me, there has been a lot of Joy this last month.... and over the weekend she flowed, very quickly, out of my head. I present to you my second expression of Violet. I hope you like her.
Satin varnish finish.
