After a recent trip to the Canyon area near Las Vegas I created this abstract landscape based on my memory and observation of the Grand Canyon, and what a glorious area it is.
I was awarded 2nd Prize for best work in acrylic or oil at Box Hill Annual Art Exhibition for this piece. This is what the judge Ben Winspear had to say:
While I am myself a representational artist – every now and then I see an abstract work that speaks to me in some way as this painting does. A fine and interesting use of abstract lines and shapes combines with a limited colour palette to much evoke a sense of the Grand Canyon as I’d imagine it to be- one of abstract forms.
