Permanent varnishing done (gloss).
One Sunday afternoon during the pandemic lockdown, I was taking a walk with a friend in Balmain, NSW and I stumbled across this charming brick wall covered by wild English Ivy. Although the idea of painting a brick wall may not seem to be appealing to some artists especially in such confined time, this particular wall caught my attention and I decided to paint this image. There are approximately 80 bricks in this painting and each brick took me 3 to 5 hours to paint. The painting process was like a long marathon or a meditation. Each brick has its own character and history of ageing, and each vine has its own destination and will to survive.
