In this painting, I've captured the transcendent beauty of a sunset spreading its warmth over a vibrant field of wildflowers. Employing impressionist brush strokes in oils, I aimed to evoke a sense of renewal and boundless joy. The painting is executed in Spontaneous Texturism style in thick oils with bright colors, fluid motion, and engaging texture. It merges impressionistic landscapes with sculptural depth and captivating light. This distinctive style, pioneered by Kenneth Halvorsen himself, brings the composition alive with rich, heavy texture—peaks of paint reaching half an inch high creating a tactile, almost three-dimensional effect. Leaves, flowers, and tree bark seem to leap from the canvas, inviting viewers to experience the artwork not only visually but almost physically.
The artist’s original signature is on the back of the canvas. The canvas is stretched on a heavy-duty 1.5” wide wooden stretcher bar in a gallery wrap style with painting going on all 4 sides, hardware attached, and ready to hang, no frame is needed.

As an American Impressionist, born in 1956 into a family of artists, I’ve been a life-long painter with a passion for natural beauty. I create my paintings on location transforming rare vistas into stunning interpretations of bright colors and fluid motion. You will see that my art has an organic, landscape vibe which derives from my love of the natural world.
Serving as an art judge and being at the forefront of a new impressionistic movement, I called Spontaneous Texturism, I demonstrate my painting technique to student artists nationwide. I’m on a lifelong quest to explore all of our country’s national parks and forests where I gain inspiration for capturing the light, colorizing the amazing scenes and using texture on the canvas. With my art I want to take you on a journey through this rare beauty of our nature that is still out there, given to us by the true creator!
I paint because I must. When I see how the light starikes a particular scene for a brief moment in time, I know, I simply need to paint it. My plein air paintings of landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes are known for their brilliant colors and extensive texture. I truly enjoy and get inspired by the real beauty of the great outdoors.
